REACT FORUM HACKED!

Postby Adam Davey » Tue Aug 31, 2010 1:28 pm

Okay, so some clown hacked the forum. I'm no propeller head, but I think I have removed the malicious code now. Google was on to it as well, and I've brought the site back on the basis that it seems to be working normally again and the bad wear removed.

Will keep an eye on it and talk to our domain host as well to ensure we close whatever hole let this crap in.

:)

Well done Adam.
To First Gen, or not to First Gen, that is the question

Yeah - good work mate!

I had been trying to log on from work yesterday and today and my virus software was going bonkers!

10 points to Adam for sorting it so quickly without being paid to do so. Two days without REACTing was doing my head in!

Please post up if any virus scans on your home pc's find anything in the near future so the rest of us can do checks as well.

OK - seems my home pc had picked up a malware virus that seemed to occasionally send me to odd websites - nothing 'nasty' like adult or gambling stuff, but weird places like Gumtree sales.

I'd recommend anyone who got the Russian re-directs run a scan, just in case.

Adam or someone can you check to ensure that the forum software is reasonably up to date?

My virus vault caught the little trojan bugger, first virus on my home PC in three years!

I've had some trouble with these buggers lately - stolen internet banking passwords and wotnot.
Finally made an IT person find the nasty under "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Yryq\yhwau.exe".

Maybe everyone should have a quick look, as this is my work machine and wasn't picked up by McAfee....
