Toyo tyres?

Postby singallant » Thu Sep 02, 2010 10:10 pm

So I've managed to wear out a set of tyres in about 6 months, and need some new ones. My stupidness means that they're a dumb size, and only a couple of companies make tyres in the size I need - BF Goodrich and Toyo. I've got BFGs at the moment, and they cost a bomb, so I'd like to investigate Toyos.
Anyone know where to get them? Apparently Tuggeranong Tyres do them. Did someone on here used to/still does work there?
For reference: 205/55/15 and 225/50/15 is what I need.

195/60x15 or 205/50x15 FTW?
Both are common as mud, and consequently a lot cheaper.

Also: Sydney is a lot cheaper than Canberra. Its often worth the phone calls & drive - even good ol' Ozzy Tyres in Canberra add the Canberra Tax (their Sydney price + fuel + my rate of pay is still less than their Canberra price on a set of four). Having said that, a workmate's friend is now the manaager in Canberra, so I'm going to see how much leverage I can get!

Due to the rock-solidness of my suspension, the more sidewall the better. And if I'm honest, the looks are just about as important as the price. 205/50s don't fill the guards quite as well :D.

Because I'm happy to pay money for things?
Or because I've got a pretty car, and you've got 900 volvos?

See you tomorrow spac :D.

LOL.

A friend has been running Toyo tyres for years. No bad reports yet.

Epic thread dig.

FWIW, I got ~40 000 kms out of a set of T1-Rs in the stupid sizes listed above, and I don't think I was super careful to them. Good value for money.

Do we have contact for Toyo or Nitto tyres. Because toyos are not cheap unless you get them from ST George Tyre's.
